Finding Your Voice: Parent Advocacy Work

Helping parents find the words, the confidence, and the way through.

Service Description

Finding Your Voice is a parent advocacy workshop built to do one thing: put the confidence, knowledge, and words directly into parents' hands, rather than always advocating on their behalf. Too many parents sit in EHCP reviews, school meetings, and service assessments feeling talked at rather than listened to, unsure of their rights, unsure of the process, and unsure how to speak up when something isn't right for their child. That uncertainty isn't a lack of care or ability. It's a lack of access to how the system actually works. This workshop closes that gap. Parents learn how EHCP reviews and school meetings really function, what their rights are at each stage, and how to prepare for a meeting so they walk in ready rather than reactive. Sessions cover how to ask the right questions, how to challenge a decision respectfully but firmly, and how to build a working relationship with schools and services rather than an adversarial one. It's delivered relationally, not as a lecture: real conversation, real scenarios, and space to practise finding the right words before it matters. Parents leave with a clear, practical toolkit they can use in their very next meeting, not abstract theory for someday. This sits alongside our existing Advocacy service, where our team advocates directly for families in meetings. Finding Your Voice is the other half of that same mission: for the parents who want to walk in and advocate for themselves, with genuine confidence, this workshop gives them everything they need to do exactly that. The result: parents who feel heard because they know how to make themselves heard, and children whose families are equipped to stand up for them for years to come, not just for one meeting.
